Your H I Mind

Humanity in Action.

The Nature of Being Human.

But, Why Suggest a New Model?

Why H I?
First, why call the H I Mind 'H.I.'? Well, ‘H.I.’ stands for Human Intelligence to distinguish it clearly away from other potential forms of intelligence and consciousness.
Why a New Mind Model?
For more than 60 years I have been asking myself life questions, like “Why do we do what we do?”. The H I Mind is part of the answer; it makes sense of many aspects of being human.
H I Mind is a breakthrough approach to describing and understanding human nature. H I Mind comprises a series of theories and models intended to eventually provide a comprehensive resource for understanding human consciousness, the human mind, and human behaviour, for the benefit of as many people as possible.
H I Mind has been developed using evolutionary and behavioural considerations. This provides a functional approach rather than the more traditional approach of attempting to understand our inner self experientially.
This document lists a number of ambitious and mundane reasons for the continued development and application of the H I Mind Model.
Fusion:

There are many well-esteemed theories and models of the human mind coming from science, psychology, philosophy, theology, etc. and a number of those are relatable to parts of the H I Mind. As well as offering theories that are novel, H I Mind could be considered as a fusion of existing knowledge sources and, if validated, could offer a potential framework to integrate those sources.

H I Mind opens a possibility for mapping the scientific findings of neuroscience to a high-level functional description of the human mind, providing improved correlation between science and psychology.

H I Mind can provide an appreciation of how some of the major psychological approaches (Cognitive, Behavioural, Social-Learning, Mindfulness, and experiential/theological) interact together.

It is possible to imagine that H I Mind could become the basis for a Standard Model of the human mind.
Comprehensive:
Bullet
H I Mind offers a unique extension to traditional models of the mind offering deeper and more directed understandings of compulsions, emotions, imperatives, intellect, and cognitive forms of motivation.
Bullet

Bullet
H I Mind allows the huge diversity of human motivation, intention, opinion, and aspiration to be understood and makes sense of the mind as a whole, including human nature.

H I Mind offers to achieve greater understanding of questions such as 'How does brainwashing work?', 'What happens when we don't care any more?', 'Why do we procrastinate so much?', 'What is depression for?', and so on.
Application:
Bullet
H I Mind offers considerable opportunities in personal development, psychology, coaching, and so on.

H I Mind will be of interest to a wide range of professionals, including psychologists, neuroscientists, philosophers, clinicians/medical professionals, therapists, coaches/mentors/counsellors, motivational influencers, politicians, social scientists, specialist NGOs/charities/support groups, advertisers, AI producers and authorities, and many more.

H I Mind can lead on to novel treatments for chronic problems such as unhealthy habits, addictions, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, burn-out, wellbeing, languishing, and so on.

H I Mind offers new ways to appreciate, understand, and resolve the internal mental conflicts, biases, and confusions that we all inevitably experience from time to time.

All this work is compatible with traditional treatments, programs, therapies, and practices.
Social Benefit:
Bullet
H I Mind gives a clear understanding of our motivations, which are often internally competitive, and can be used to evolve strategies to promote clear and rewarding personal and societal purposes as well as improved mental wellbeing.

Bullet
H I Mind could be used, optimistically perhaps, to improve political and economic behaviours to suit our cultures and inhibit the influences of greed, self-indulgence, and institutionalised corruption.

In terms of personality work, and unlike most existing approaches, H I Mind includes intellectual capabilities and personal imperatives which can help us understand many forms of externalised behaviour. This may be of considerable benefit in education and offer improved societal integration of neurodiverse individuals.
Global Benefit:
Bullet
Humanity faces a number of existential challenges at the moment including globalisation and a growth of post-truth psychologies, mass-migrations, increasing inequality between the ‘haves’ and the ‘have-nots’, environmental diminishment, global warming, adversarial politics, and so on. As H I Mind reveals information about human nature, it can contribute to the potential resolutions of all these issues.

Our brain was evolved over millions of years, but it was not evolved to support modern global cultures. With a good understanding of human nature, human capabilities, and human limitations, then we will be in a beneficial position to develop successful and sustainable future cultures.
Artificial Intelligence:

New multi-agent AI systems are, at the time of writing, being implemented and offer a strong parallel to H I Mind. I believe that a next-generation AI could be based on a combination of multi-agent technology and H I Mind. This could produce even more human-like AI interfaces and more general-purpose AI products that require less ‘training’.

H I Mind can even, I suspect, be used to develop more traceable and safe AI applications and ways to manage, and even legislate, the development of AI systems designed to contribute to the future development of truly equitable societies.
It is early days, but each of these reasons, along with others, seem to me, to be very good reasons to continue to evaluate and develop H I Mind.
Note!
I find the H I Mind useful to imagine how some internal processes play out, but it can be important to remember this model is not reality. There is no single place in our brains where each of these 'Focuses' exist. These 'Focuses' are not actual independent and separate minds. They are, perhaps, functional aspects of our one mind. Using a model such as this, which focusses on function, can make it easier to understand some of the processing that goes on in our one mind and some of the problems that can appear when we have multiple purposes or when our mind is out of 'balance'. Any model of the mind is, of course, a gross simplification of the interconnectedness of our mental processes based in our brain, nervous system, and body.
