Using the H I Mind Model to Answer Difficult Questions.
What is Noble Philosophy?
The Hemispheric Intelligence (HI) Mind Model provides the theoretical underpinnings for the Noble Mind Project.
The H I Mind Model presents a new series of insights into human psychology, behavioural evolution, and the capabilities that all humans have access to through the structure of the brain. The H I Mind Model also presents new opportunities to ask difficult questions (eg. what actually is human nature?) and to seek to provide answers that extend our knowledge. That growing collection of research, insight, and application of ideas based on the H I Mind Model is called the Noble Philosophy.
Basics
Noble Philosophy begins with a simple observation: what has allowed humanity to flourish is not physical dominance, but behaviour. Our capacity to care, to cooperate, to be fair, truthful, and compassionate is what most clearly defines us as human. These behaviours can be observed, practised, and strengthened. They shape our relationships, our cultures, and our sense of meaning.
The Noble Mind Project proposes a way of understanding these behaviours through the H I Mind Model. This model explores how patterns of human behaviour may have evolved and how they continue to shape our experience of the world. Within it are qualities that reflect humanity at its best: selflessness, generosity, kindness, compassion, humility, and the ability to experience unconditional love. These are not abstract ideals; they are lived capacities that can guide how we think, act, and relate to one another.
Noble Philosophy is not a new philosophy competing with those that came before it. Rather, it is a practical orientation that draws upon what many philosophies already recognise: that human flourishing depends on how we treat ourselves and others. Noble Philosophy does not seek to argue against existing traditions. Instead, it offers a way to apply what we already know about human goodness in clear, grounded, and actionable ways.
At its heart, Noble Philosophy is concerned with practice. It seeks to translate insight into lived experience, and theory into ways of being. By consciously choosing behaviours aligned with our most humane capacities, we can deepen our self-awareness, strengthen our self-respect, and improve how we communicate with and support those around us. In doing so, we not only improve our own lives, but also contribute to healthier, more compassionate communities.
An Example: Support
Noble Philosophy begins where we all can begin: with how we show up for ourselves and for others. Through simple, intentional choices—such as holding space, listening without ego, and acting with humility and care—we activate the Noble Focus within ourselves. From there, support becomes safer, more authentic, and more empowering. And when growth does occur, we learn to recognise it, honour it, and celebrate it—when the time is right.
A good example is provided by considering how we can go about supporting ourselves and others. What I describe here is a method for preparing to support that concentrates on activating our own in-built resources of the Noble Focus within the H I Mind Model.

Hold The Space
Still your own mind and allow the one that you want to support to exist just as they are. RESPECT them. Hold COMPASSION for them. Allow them to be just as they are, while you remain grounded and mainly silent. Cultivate HUMILITY.
Remember, respect, compassion, and humility can start with a choice, a thought, and can be encouraged to grow and be expressed as feelings that will support your overall state of mind. The more you practise, the more effective and resilient your state of mind can become.

Listen at Keyholes
Be prepared to listen deeply and compassionately, listen actively when appropriate, but do not insert your self (your own ego) into their process. Do not collude in their suffering by reinforcing their misconceptions or biases.
Listening at keyholes can also mean using your stillness to encourage your own intuitions to appear. If you are intuitive, make sure that you are careful not to apply your intuitions to strongly. Intuition can be very valuable but it must be used with care. Try to make sure that your intuition is both appropriate and practicable before you apply it to whoever it is that you are supporting. It is important that your support remains truthful and appropriate.

Adopt The Follower State
Metaphorically, ‘The Follower’ walks to the side, and a little behind, the other. This encourages the other to lead yet lets the other become aware that they are NOT ALONE. ‘The Follower’ may be a silent presence, or may chatter, or may even point out the route, as appropriate. ‘The Follower’ must accept the risk of not leading, at least for now.Don’t save, don’t judge, don’t reinforce, don’t lead, don’t collude, don’t assume, don’t distract, don’t run away.

Safety
Any support that you give, beyond just ‘being-there’ should be safe. Don’t try to ‘fix’ anybody, don’t ‘rescue’, don’t ‘correct’, don’t offer inappropriate ‘advice’, and don’t fall into your own belief that you ‘know what is best’!

Celebrate
When the time is right!
